Anbuley ‘pushing African music into the future’

Anbuley is one of those names that I always check for when seeking out new music. This Austria based Ghanian singer’s willingness to jump on unconventional beats has her appearing on such underground club hits like Zakee’s Sane Eba, and Bert on Beats’ Suomo. This kind of experimenting in the diaspora, while still rooting one’s self back home (especially by singing in Twi Ga) is at its best when it allows or encourages our brothers and sisters to take risks with their music tastes and production choices. In the face of sometimes stagnating local music scenes, I can’t help but think it’s the kind of thing that will continue to push African music into the future. I assumed as much when a friend of mine threw Sane Eba on in an Accra Taxi, and the driver started murmuring along.

Boima, I just got ordered to come over to see this post. Now i know why. Cool stuff, especially since the language she is singing in is my “birth” language or mother tongue and can pretty much understand what she is saying. Her accent is a bit – well probably laden with what I suspect is an Austrian twang. The language she is singing in is Ga by the way not Twi :) . It’s the indegenous language of the people of Accra. Will have to do some more research on her. Pretty unusual soundz and very un-Azonto which is what is taking Ghana by storm at the moment. Cheers.

Just to clarify, Anbuley sings in Ga, not Twi. Thanks

Hot song! There is something about GA’s attitude and swagger that she brings with this beat! I would like to see a collabo with her other Ghanaian artists like Gyadublay Ambolley, Sarkodie, Tinny, Ayigbe Edem, Tiffany (if she can come correct, sometimes her raps are flaky)/ Swedish mafia, M.I.A., Tinie Tempah on a international level
