‘This president will have to go, and he will leave’

Not your usual music break. The song that got the Burkinabe reggae singer Sams’K Le Jah into trouble with the authorities in his home country where Life President Blaise Compaore has been in power since 1987 after he plotted the murder of his predecessor, Thomas Sankara. More recently Compaore has had to cope with widespread resistance to his rule. Compaore is an ally of the West. It did not help that Sams’K Le Jah compared Compoare to Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak.

    I met Sams K a couple times in Ouaga- great guy really committed to the cause. I am not a huge fan of his music, but he has a tremendous following in Ouaga.

    despotic little negroes like compaore who’ve done nothing but heap misery on people’s heads are living on borrowed time
    organise, mobilise and liberate the cnotinent from these sambos
