I think this could definitely be classified as death metal. It reminds me a bit of early Sepultura, a thrash/death metal group from Brazil, which is no bad thing. As a long-time death metal fan, I find the song pretty good.
They coulda fooled me, weren’t it for the lagging tempo. Death metal relies on speed, double, triple time, unfortunately, the guitar riffs are a bit slow, which, also unfortunately, unmakes the point. They could do great in straight rock though! I am actually intrigued at the idea of what they would sound like when, if, they find themselves.,
