Wow, 60 countries on the MOST failed states list…who makes the lesser failed states list?

My favourite is ‘East Timor is arguably the most uplifting story on this dismal list…the country’s gas and oil reserves offer hope that the fledgling country will one day be able to stand on its own’.

Sure, cos we all know that natural resources are the secret to success.

@thirdworldgoesforth: For me Foreign Policy, while more at ease with the web than the staid Foreign Affairs–the moment of the “opinion magazine” is kinda over; read Michael Massing on this here: http://bit.ly/bwqtXF–is turning opinion/analysis of foreign/international affairs intoa version of tabloid “journalism.” Something like People or US Weekly.

The photo from Liberia is one that I took for AFP. This points to the fact that there is a pretty big difference between content makers and editors who piece these things together. My photo is of some girls walking through a market – not all that hellish. Liberia is no Malaysia, but it also isn’t Somalia.

This is ridiculous! Amerikkka should be topping that list for being the most aggressive nation on the planet, holding almost half the world’s prison population and for being the fattest, most doped up (pharmaceutical & street) nation on earth.

But most of all, Amerikkka tops the list for ‘aiding and abetting’ others to become ‘failed states’.

My country made the top 10, but honestly life is FAAAR from hell for many of us.

This is a waste of some really good pictures.
