K’Naan and Akon have now produced versions of their World Cup songs for Coco Cola and Pepsi respectively. The transformation is complete.

First Akon’s “Africa.”  It is not clear where this is?  The edge of a game park? And there’s all the “African” elements are present: dry grass pitch, star players in Madiba shirts (!), lion noises, baobab trees. I am going to stop.

Then there’s K’Naan putting “Waving Flag” to work for Coco Cola:

The next 99 days to the World Cup is going to be silly.

OMG! The Akon vid looks like something from the era of God’s Must Crazy. The only thing positive about, aside from Henry of course (lol) is the human pitch and the way it shifts.
The song belongs in a version of the Lion King not as a World Cup song. I guess Akon and Keri Hilson did this for money and prestige rather an actually promoting an African identity. *SMH*

I’m rather embarrassed to say I love the Pepsi advert!
