“Confession” is a 17 minute long short film by Rwandan filmmaker Daddy Ruhorahoza, about a rape that happened during the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, told through the perspective of the rapist 13 years later. (See a clip here.)
I first saw his film on an online film festival (the film has been taken down), and had the same strong reaction when I first saw “Kare Kare Zvako,” Tsitsi Dangarembga’s parable on modern Zimbabwe. I expect a lot from this director. (He also worked on Lee Isaac Chang’s film about the genocide, “Munyurangabo.”)
