Jon Stewart’s attempt to draw cheap laughs in an interview with 22 year old Malawian, William Kamkwamba (at 14 years old he started building windmills from scrap material to electrify houses and appliances in his village), actually serves to demystify Kamkwamba’s otherness for viewers and commentors on websites where this video has been posted (Kamkwamba’s “accent,” his seeming shyness, etc). Kamkwamba, though, knows how to get laughs himself.
