The twentieth anniversary of “Do The Right Thing” is being celebrated in London. [I'd definitely include "Do The The Right Thing" in my top 10 films of all time.]
And Spike Lee is doing interviews (this one with the film critic of “The Guardian.”) You know he is going to say something good. About the election of President of Barack Obama: “… Anyone who thinks we move in a post-racial society is someone who’s been smoking crack.” Lee also goes after Mathieu Kassovitz, director of the French film, “La Haine.” Despite the clear similarities between the two films (both are driven by hip hop soundtracks and have racial incidents at the heart of the story), Lee claims Kassovitz did not want to acknowledge his debt to “Do The Right Thing.” [In a separate interview with the BBC Lee also went off, rightly, against the film "Crash."]
The interview is with “The Guardian.”
Do The Right Thing is a bloody classic. Spike should get a life time achievement award just for this movie.
Yo, put some moosarella on that mothafucka!
